Suddenly, on January 20th, Phil Parlee's father passed away in Sussex, NB. His father was 88. Phil Parlee is FCA's New Brunswick Board member and liaison officer for Canada Winter Games 2003. FCA extends its condolences to Phil and his family.

MICA 2003
The 2003 Multi-sites Indoor Championship of the Americas (MICA) has arrived! This tournament has been held for the past 5 years and each year the numbers climb. We plan to make 2003 another successful year for MICA by asking your club to be a host of the MICA tournament. The event can be held at your club between January 10 and March 10, 2003. Results are the sent to me and I submit Canada’s results to the International COPANARCO Coordinator.
Below are some important dates:
1. MICA Championships are to be held between January 10 and March 10, 2003. Scores shot after March 10, 2003 cannot be considered for MICA.
2. Please send results to me a couple of days after you have run
the event at your club. You can either email them to me or fax them to
me at (519) 685-4429 - ATTN: Jacqui Jenskey.
3. The deadline to submitting results to the International COPANARCO Coordinator is
March 20, 2003 so please have your results to me at the latest by
March 15, 2003.
Below are some things to note:
1. The Team Event is different to an FCA Team Event. Please ensure you
follow the MICA Guide.
2. There is no Pre-Cub in MICA.
3. The age categories differ slightly to the FITA age categories.
4. The target used for all archers is either a 40cm single face or a 40cm triple face. There are no 60cm faces in MICA
For those clubs wishing to register please email me with the
information noted in the guide, including the date you wish to shoot
the event, location etc. Once I have your registration I will send
your dates and locations for the event to the FCA for publication in
the FCA weekly newsletter you receive via email.
If you are wondering what score cards to use, please feel free to use
the score cards posted on the FCA link for the Indoors event.
Thank you for your support and please let me know if your club wishes
to participate in this fun event.

7. FCA Indoor Rules / Règlements de Tir en Salle
From the FCA Rule Editor:
Note that effective with the current Indoor season, there are changes to the FCA target size and scoring. Some divisions using compound bows now score the OUTER TEN. In particular all Bowhunter divisions score outer ten. Also, Cubs, Pre-cubs and Peewees score outer ten. See the chart below.

- All FCA-affiliated clubs wishing to host FITA Star tournaments for 2003 should send their requests to the FCA national office NO LATER THAN January 31, 2003.

9. Application Des Juges Au Championnat
Extérieurs De Victoria
Le président du comité des juges de la FCA accepte maintenant les applications de juges qualifiés désireux de participer aux prochains Championnats canadiens de tir extérieurs qui se tiendront à Victoria, Colombie Britannique, du 10 au 16 août 2003 .
Tous les juges appliquant seront considérés non seulement selon leur expérience mais aussi selon les perspectives de développement du tir à l'arc canadien . Il y aura une certaine possibilité d'aide financière (à être définie) venant de la FCA pour aider au transport. Ce support financier est limité et les juges devraient chercher un support additionnel de leur association provinciale. Dans le passé, les juges ont aussi reçu une allocation journalière de $30.00 leur hébergement (occupation double) et leur transport local.
La FCA organise habituellement un séminaire de juge de niveau national précédent le de Tir en campagne. (Pour Victoria, nous regardons actuellement les possibilité d' en faire un événement de niveau international.) Tous les juges candidats au niveau national, aussi bien que les juges possédant les statuts national et international sont invités à s'y inscrire. Nous recommandons particulièrement aux juges de la région concernée de profiter de l'occasion de venir rafraîchir leur connaissances.
Habituellement le coût de cette clinique est de $40.00. Nous offrons aussi aux participants à cette clinique une chance de travailler les championnats canadiens extérieurs qui suivront sous la supervision d'un juge senior (mentor) .

9. Judge Applications for Victoria Championship
The FCA judge committee chairperson now is accepting applications from qualified judges wishing to participate in the next Canadian Target & Field Championships that will be held in Victoria, BC from August 10 to 16.
All judge applicants will be considered, not only on experience, but also from the perspective of the development of Canadian archery. There will be a certain amount of FCA financial support (to be defined) to defray travel costs. This financial assistance is limited, and judges are urged to seek additional support form their provincial associations. In the past, judges also received a per diem ($30.00), accommodation (double occupancy) and local transport.
Usually, FCA organizes a national judge seminar on the days preceding the Field championships. (For Victoria, we will try to organize an international seminar.) National judges candidates are encouraged to attend. All other judges can use the seminar to refresh their knowledge and challenge their thinking. Usually, the seminar costs $40.00. Seminar candidates will be offered the chance to judge during the tournament under the supervision of a senior judge or mentor.
