Notes sent back to Canada / Les message de l'équipe au Canada:
Marie Pier Beaudet a demontré un haut niveau de competitivité et de
maturité psychologique en réalisant 3 records du monde en cette 2ième
journée de qualification. En effet elle a amelioré le record cadet
recurve a 50 metres pussant de 324 à 330. A 30 metres une série de 30
et
de 29 lui a permis d'attendre 348. Enfin elle a complete la FITA avec
son premier 1300 avec 1320.
Crispin Duenas' qualification round was up and down. 70m was down at
305, but 60m was better. 50m was shot well but there was no reward in
the
score. But he bounced back with an excellent 345 at 50m. He finished
in
11th place
Avril Hatherell shot a 1293 in the qualification round, 7 points off
her
personal best. Her 12th place earns her a bye into the 1/8 elimination
round Thursday morning.
Kevin Tataryn achieved a personal best at 50m and finished the
qualification round with 1350, 9th overall and 7 points off his
personal
best. He earns a bye into the elimination rounds, and shoots first
against 25th placed Feijan Nicholas from France.

Notes sent back to Canada / Les message de l'équipe au Canada:
Avril shot a personal best 165 in the 18 arrow 1/8 round to beat
the #5 seeded Swede. In the 1/4 round against the #4 French girl she
did not fare so well and ended the tournament ranked 8th.
Kevin shot a solid 172 in the first elimination round and advanced to
shoot against an archer from Croatia. In a back and forth match, Kevin
came back to tie the score at 162. Unfortunately Kevin shot a 9
against this opponent's 10 in the shoot-off. Kevin is ranked 9th.
On Crispin's first match he was so nervous Joan McDonald could see his
knees shaking, but he was able to defeat the Luxembourg archer. He
settled down in his second match and defeated Chris Madely of
Australia. In the 1/8 finals he had an excellent match against a young
man from the Netherlands and won. In the 1/4 he shot a 5 in his first
end. In a 12 arrow match that's hard to recover from and he lost the
match. He will likely finish the tournament ranked 7th.
Marie Pier Beaudet started the eliminations very strongly, struggled
but made it through the 1/8 and then lost to a girl from the Ukraine
in the 1/4.
