The CSLC is an international internship program offered to young Canadians who have been positively influenced by sport and are prepared to share their experience and expertise in developing countries within Africa and the Caribbean. 3. Marie-Pier Beaudet named Québec regional Athlete of the Year

The Francs Archers de Ste Foy have informed FCA that Marie-Pier Beaudet finished first at the regional Gala in Quebec for Athlete of the Year due to her 2002 outdoor performances. Congratulations, Marie-Pier!

6. News from Alberta - a new grandchild for the Ferriers

Hi Kathleen,

Thanks for the inquiry. Our daughter Sandy was having problems but we have a beautiful 7lbs-8oz granddaughter. She arrived a month early, but perfect in every way, of course. She is named Maggie Jane. This was Sandy's third. Eileen has been very busy with a 4yr old girl and a small boy who just turned 3. And of course they are starting to pack for their permanent move to New Zealand in early January.

Never a dull moment, Eileen will be back home just after Christmas, and no doubt in need of lots of rest. Anyway have a merry Christmas and a good and prosperous New Year.

(Ed: Red & Eileen's daughter lives in the United States, so Eileen has been away from home most of the past two months. Congratulations to all and good luck in New Zealand!)

6. Les Nouvelles de l'Alberta - une nouvelle petite-fille Ferrier

La fille de Red et Eileen Ferrier, qui habite aux Etats-Unis, a quelques problèmes mais les Ferrriers a une nouvelle petite-fille qui s'appelle Maggie Jane. Elle est arrivée un mois plus tôt. Eileen doit rester aux Etats-Unis depuis deux mois pour garder les autres enfants âgés quatre et trois ans. Cette famille américaine démanagera à Nouvelle Zealand en janvier. Eileen retournera au Canada après le Noel pour prendre du repos.

7. FCA Indoor Rules / Règlements de Tir en Salle

From the FCA Rule Editor:

Note that effective with the current Indoor season there are changes to the FCA target size and scoring. Some divisions using compound bows now score the OUTER TEN. In particular all Bowhunter divisions and all ages, Cub and under score outer ten. See the chart below.

8. MICA 2003

FCA's new COPANARCO MICA co-ordinator is Jacquie Jenskey. She has been in touch with the new COPANARCO programme co-ordinator in El Salvador. Information for the 2003 MICA tournaments will be available in mid-December. Any club wishing to host a MICA event should equipment divisions are different from FCA's.

The FCA Executive Committee is pleased to announce that the 2003 Canada Cup tournament will be held in Burnaby, BC on May 17-19 2003.

Fees:

Pre-registration: $50

Late Fee (after April 28): Add $20

Format:

Double FITA on the weekend, ranking will be from the Long distances on the 17th, the short distances on the 18th.

There will be an elimination round shot on the 19th, following the double knockout format from Canadian Champs and Canada Cup 2002.

The FITA's will start at 9 AM for practice, with scoring starting at 10 AM. The OR is scheduled to start at 8:15 AM for practice and 9:15 for scoring rounds.

Only categories shooting 70M or greater will be accepted, that is:

Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Master for men and women, recurve and compound.

Entries are accepted as first come, first served up to the field limit.

The Spirit of Sport Foundation (SSF) is reminding interested sport organizations and others to visit the SSF web site for more information on the nomination process for the 30th Annual Canadian Sport Awards (CSA), presented by Investors Group. The Awards will take place on March 25, 2003 and will celebrate the heroes that live within sport.

2003 CSA categories

· Athletic Performance Awards: These awards are intended to recognize and celebrate outstanding athletic performance in 2002.

· Leadership Awards: These awards are meant to recognize and celebrate an individual's outstanding contribution to the betterment of sport.

· Corporate Excellence Awards: These awards are meant to recognize and celebrate corporations who provide outstanding support to Canadian sport.
