4. Grand National Archery Society

Recruitment of a Head Coach

The GNAS is the National Governing Body for archery in the UK and works with other UK and international bodies on behalf of its members. The Society is Located at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Nr Newport, Shropshire where the post is based.

The position will report to the Chief Executive and the main responsibilities will include:

- Coaching World Class Performance Plan archers (both able-bodied and disabled)

- The administration of all aspects of the World Class Performance Plan including the management of Budgets

- The development of the coaching talent for the WCPP

This is a fixed term contract to the 31st March 2005 and the salary offered will be in the region of £30,000 (approximately US$45,000) per annum, dependent on experience and proven ability, with 26 days holiday per year together with UK statutory holidays.

5. Victoria Bowmen Tournaments

If you will be attending a tournament at Victoria Bowmen, you must contact Tracy Klat at (250) 598-7615 or tklat@islandnet.com, with the names of the people who will be coming, one week prior to the tournament. For example, you will be attending the FITA STAR on April 28 contact Tracy Klat by April 20.

As you may already know, Victoria Bowmen Club has limited access to the range. We are required to enter the range with a person that has Military ID. Also, please have photo ID with you as they may ask you for it.

We will be meeting at Tim Horton’s at 8:30am and leaving at 8:40-45am. If you arrive after this time please call 881-2584 (Tracy’s cell) and someone will come to the gate and sign you in.

It is very important that you contact me, as this may result in you not shooting the tournament.

6. News from the Arctic Archery Association

Greetings Kathy. It looks like the Arctic Archers will survive one more year or at least till December 31st. We are now eight strong and who knows what opening day will bring? We have the range lined up again for the summer and we may even be allowed limited 3D access so long as the arrows would land on the exterior of the berm at the range.

Our range is surrounded by a large dirt berm and if we shoot towards the berm from outside the range on the right hand side this may be allowed. This is a big concession by the ski club, and they have yet to agree to it. However, their head biathalon coach came up with the plan. So, slowly but surely.
