Pour des raisons hors de notre controle le club: Les Francs Archers de Ste Foy, nous sommes dans l'obligation de reporter les dates de competitions FITA suivantes: les tournois qui devaient avoir lieu le:

The archery club Les Francs Archers de Ste. Foy announces that for reasons beyond their control, they have had to reschedule some of the their tournaments as follows:

Originally slated for June 3, 2001, this FITA Star will be held Sunday, July 15^th.

Originally slated for June 12-13, this mid-week FITA will be held August 21-22.

Both the FTAQ and FCA have agreed these date changes to. Therefore, scores will be valid. For more information contact Marthe Cusson at the contacts listed above.

Cadet girl recurve-Cadet fille arc à recourbure: Marie-Pier Beaudet, Lévis, QC. lors d'une FITA STAR 1440 avec un score de 1204, 2001-05-26.

Master woman compound -Femme sénior arc démultiplié: Lynne Durward, Salt Spring Island, BC. in a Canadian 900 round with a score of 266 at 55m, 284 at 45m, 289 at 35m and a total of 839, 2001-05-20.

Master man compound-Homme maitre arc démultiplié: Greg Durward,Salt Spring Island, BC. in a FITA STAR 1440 with a score of 359 at 30m. 2001-05-27. Greg has tied also the 30m in the category senior man compound.

3. 3D News from Manitoba by Tom Paukovic (uniquement en anglais)

In Ojibway "Manitoba" means "Where the Spirit Sits" and the spirit of Archery will be sitting right here in Manitoba this summer. The organizing committee, from the three host clubs, is doing its utmost to put on a great event. By all reports the Championships last year in Aylmer and Boucherville were spectacular and we will be hard pressed to maintain the standard set by our hosts in Quebec but we intend to try. The venue has been set in scenic Birds Hill Provincial Park. The park situated 10 minutes North of Winnipeg is home to plentiful flocks of turkeys and a deer herd that numbers over 200. It is a multi use park that boasts Kilometers of biking and roller-blading trails as well as excellent camping facilities. There are nature walks, interpretive trails and a man made lake for swimming and canoeing.

The Target Championships will be located in the Polo Grounds operated by the Manitoba Horse Council. It was the venue for the Pan Am Games Dressage and Grand Prix Jumping events. The target field will be located in the fenced Grand Prix Ring with an earthen berm along the right side of the field. There are trees along the left and North sides that protect the field from strong winds. Being in Manitoba no matter where you are it seems that the wind is always blowing and archers should be prepared for swirling winds.

The 3D course will be situated on the Winnipeg Folk Festival site. Courses will emanate out from a central location so there should be no need to shuttle archers to the starting areas. We hope to have four different courses and will be introducing a new line of targets manufactured in Alberta by "Performance Targets". We are also negotiating for one course of Rhinehart targets that are somewhat unique. I anticipate that the courses will be a short walk. There will be a mix of treed and open areas with generally flat terrain. For the 3D event this year we are eagerly anticipating the introduction of the Hunter Class designed for the archer who is not a speed freak but enjoys shooting animal targets.

There will be a welcoming barbecue provided free of charge on Friday August 3rd for the 3D shooters and on Monday August 6th for the target event. The host Hotel situated 15 minutes from the Park is brand-new and next to one of Winnipeg’s two Casino’s. The banquet menu’s have been finalized and the on site concessions and Beer Garden will be looked after by one of our local archery clubs. For those who wish to Camp Birds Hill offers top-notch facilities.

I hope no one is intimidated by the fact that the Championship brings out the top archers in the country. I have been fortunate to enjoy shooting with some of the best archers as well as some who are trying FITA and 3D for the first time. Fellowship and good times are what our Championships are all about it seems to be our Canadian way. We look forward to showing all our visiting competitors some warm Manitoba hospitality "Where the Spirit Sits".

(ed: I have heard through the grapevine that the Manitoba archers are intending to clean up in the medal department. So, if you don't want that to happen, you'd better register today!)

Supporting Canadian Athletes & Forests is as easy as 1, 2, TREE

Mississauga – With summer just around the corner, Petro-Canada is offering Canadians a chance to help plant trees in Canada’s forests and support our amateur athletes through the Petro-Canada Olympic Torch Scholarship Fund.

"Petro-Canada is proud to offer our guests the opportunity to support two of Canada’s valued assets — our vast forests and our talented athletes," said Boris Jackman, Executive Vice-President at Petro-Canada. "While both assets are respected around the world, they require the ongoing support of people across Canada to thrive."

Getting involved is as easy as 1, 2, TREE…

ONE Visit any Petro-Canada for a limited time and fill-up your tank with SuperClean Gasoline. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the planting of trees along the Trans Canada Trail.

TWO At participating sites, customers will be able to purchase white spruce tree seedlings. 25 cents from the purchase of each tree will go towards supporting amateur athletes through the Petro-Canada Olympic Torch Scholarship Fund.

TREE Plan to walk or hike the Trans Canada Trail where the trees from each SuperClean fill-up will be planted or plant your white spruce seedlings at home or at the cottage as a lasting symbol of your support for Canada’s amateur athletes.

Petro-Canada has partnered with the Trans Canada Trail and the Tree Canada Foundation to help locate, plant and protect the trees. This summer we hope to plant close to 250 thousand trees at various locations across Canada and along the trail.

Petro-Canada’s Olympic involvement dates back to the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and lives on through the Olympic Torch Scholarship Fund. Funding from the ongoing program resulted from the sale of over 50 million Legacy drinking glasses and other items sold at Petro-Canada sites during the 1987-88 cross-Canada Torch Relay run.

Nancy et moi aimerions vous informer que nous convoilerons en justes noces. La cérémonie qui aura lieu le 16 juin prochain, se tiendra dans une église de Montréal-Nord, soit près de l'hôpital où gîte l'arrière grand-maman de Nancy. Comme elle est très âgée, nous avons choisi une église proche de l'hôpital.

Interpretations from C&R Committee

Question: Is a recurve bow with compound accessories allowed to compete in the Compound Division and gain FITA awards?

Answer: Different equipment does not make a recurve bow a compound bow, and therefore it may only be used in non-FITA events.

Interpretations from the Technical Committee

It is the unanimous opinion of the FITA Technical Committee that the Beiter sight tunnel with multiple optical fiber pins (four in total) or any long sighting device is not legal under the currents rules for the recurve division as it represents an additional aid in aiming. It is allowed for the compound division.

Interpretations from the Technical Committee

Our committee feels that a maximum point dimension of 9.4 mm is adequate to protect shafts of 9.3mm and not create undue damage to targets. In regard to what shafts are legal under the 9.3mm diameter limit, this would include all shafts of 23 diameter except the 2317. Shafts currently produced in the 23 size category and legal under the 9.3 mm rule are the 2312, 2314 and 2315.

Clarification from C&R

FITA will accept records shot as part of an Olympic round if that part belongs to a registered world record tournament. Therefore if there are, for example, only 20 participants, the archers can shoot a world record for the 1/8^th elimination and so on. Matches with byes are not valid for world records since there is no opponent.

Interprétations du Comité C&R

Question: Est-ce que l'utilisation d'un arc recurve munis d'accessoires compound est autorisée dans la division arc à pulie et peut-on avec ce dernier obtenir une récompense FITA?

Réponse: Un équipment différent ne fait pas d'un arc recurve un arc à poulie, cependant, il pourra être utilisé dans une compétition qui n'est pas reconnue par la FITA.

Interprétations du Comité technique

Le CT de la FITA a décidé à l'unanimité que le tunnel de viseur Beiter à fibres optiques multiples (4 au total) ou tout autre instrument de visée allongé n'est pas légal selon les règles en vigueur actuellement, vu qu'il représente une aide de visée. Il est amis pour la division arcs à poulies.

Interprétations du Comité technique

Notre comité pense qu'un diamètre maximal de 9,4mm pour la pointe est suffisant pour protéger un tube de 9,3mm et ne pas occasionner de dégâts exagérés aux cibles. Au sujet de la léglité des tubes de moins de 9,3mm de diamètre, tous les tubes de diamètre 23 sont réglementaires sauf le 23-17. Les tubes de diamètre 23 réglementaires selon la production actuelle et qui respectent la règle maximale de 9,3mm sont les: 23-12, 23-14 et 23-15

Clarification de C&R

La FITA reconnaîtra le record tiré comme faisant partie du tour olympique si cette épreuve fait partie des tournois enregistrés pour des records du Monde. Donc, s'il n'y a par exemple que 20 participants, les archers peuvent tirer un record du monde pour les 1/8e de finale et ainsi de suite. Les matches avec exemption ne sont pas valables pour les records du monde comme iI n'y a pas d'adversaires.

With the view to train our archers and educate our coaches for the 2004 Olympic Games and intermediate International events, the "Federation Hellenique de Tir a l' Arc Amateur" (Hellenic Archery Federation) wants to hire a professional archery coach.
