Paralympic Team Announced to IPC Archery World Championships

Toronto - July 18, 2001
"On behalf of the High Performance Committee, the FCA Executive and Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to name Canada's Paralympic Team to Nymburk, CZE."
"Alec Denys (Alymer, ON) and Norbert Murphy (Ste Anne-de-Bellevue, QC) will compete July 27 - August 8 in the W2 division," announced Ms. Joan McDonald, FCA's Vice-President of High Performance.
"Alec Denys, who finished 5th at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, and Norbert Murphy, who competed in Sydney as well, are both highly-successful, long-time members of our national Paralympic team. The team will be managed and coached by our Head Paralympic Coach, M. Arthur Nault (Brossard, QC)."
"On behalf of the FCA membership, I wish them much success at the third IPC World Championships. "

Recurve & Compound Teams Announced for 41st World Archery Championships

Toronto - July 18, 2001
"On behalf of the High Performance Committee, the FCA Executive and Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to name Canada's Senior National Team to compete in Beijing, CHN from September 14-25," announced Ms. Joan McDonald, FCA's Vice-President of High Performance.
"The FCA is sending 3 very strong teams this year. All of these archers met competitive score standards equal to, or better than, qualification levels for FITA's elimination rounds from the last two world championships."
"Our men's Recurve (Olympic-style) team includes Hugh MacDonald (Vancouver, BC), David Dalziel (Prince Albert, SK), Shawn Riggs (Waterloo, ON) and Pierre Gremeaux (Laval, QC)."
"Our men's compound team members are Richard Demers (Becancour, QC), Ed Wilson (Winnipeg, MB), Phil Prowse (Waterloo, ON) and Greg Durward (Saltspring Island, BC)."
"Our women's compound team members are Dawn Groszko (Calgary, AB), Lillian Meehan (Surrey, BC) and Lynne Durward (Saltspring Island, BC)."
"Due to the fact that our teams are totally self-funded, two of our qualified recurve female shooters will not be able to attend and the FCA regrets the absence of a women's recurve (Olympic style) team."
"FCA's support staff has been hard at work already. They include Head Coach M. Aime Breault (Trois-Rivieres, QC), Team Manager Mr. Allan R. Wills (Victoria, BC) and Assistant Team Manager Mme. Denise Breault (Trois-Rivieres, QC)."

3. Bid for 2002 / les championnats 3D de 2002

Nova Scotia will be bringing a bid to the 3D Board meeting in Winnipeg to host yet again the 3D Nationals in 2002. It will be a group of four clubs through AANS to start the process of the motion to be voted upon at this meeting. If you wish you can put this news on the FCA electronic newslettter. I should let you know that we did talk about the target Nationals and unfortunately the problem is lack of numbers in Nova Scotia to host this type of event.

Malheureusement, nous n'avons pas assez bénévole de faire offre les autres championnats extérieurs.

Following the overwhelming success of the 2000-2001 Coaching Internship Program, Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) has recently approved the funding for the continuation of the program.
Information about the internship program and an application form can be found on the Coaching Association of Canada Web site at http://www.coach.ca/programs/CIP_e.htm.
The application deadline is Friday, August 17, 2001.
