La fédération internationale de tir à l'arc (FITA) vient d'homologuer un autre record du monde pour Marie-Pier Beaudet dans la catégorie cadet arc à recourbures. Marie-Pier s'est méritée cet honneur lors du Ohio State Championship le 1 septembre dernier. Elle a gagné la ronde éliminatoire finale avec un pointage de 98.

FITA has confirmed that Marie-Pier Beaudet shot another world record in cadet recurve division. She did it when she won the final match elimination round with a score of 98 during the Ohio Outdoor Championship held the first weekend of September.

Sport Official Awards

OTTAWA - Flip Filippelli of Vancouver, B.C. and Sandra Roberts of Swift Current, Saskatchewan have been awarded 2001 Fox 40 Sport Official Awards for their outstanding contribution to their sports. Fox 40, in collaboration with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), honour a male and a female sport official in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the development of their sport. This year, unprecedented 74 nominations were received from athletes, coaches, parents, and administrators throughout Canada, recognizing the contributions of officials in their communities and organizations. Flip and Sandra will be presented with their awards at the Coaching Awards Dinner on October 20th, 2001. The Coaching Awards Dinner is the highlight of the three-day Sport Leadership 2001 conference that is being held October 19-21 at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
Flip has officiated at swimming competitions for more than 30 years at the regional, provincial, national and international levels. His involvement began in 1963 when he was elected president of the Lakeside Swim Club. Although he holds international officiating credentials, he continues to judge at local competitions. His international officiating career began in 1978 at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. Since then he has been involved in competitions all over the world, officiating at World Championships, Pan American Games and the Olympics. In 1996, at the Atlanta Summer Olympics, Flip became the first Canadian swim official to referee at the Olympic Games. Flip was Swimming Canada's representative on FINA's Technical Committee from 1988 to 2000 and is currently the treasurer of the Pacific Dolphins Swim Club (PDSC). Over the years, Flip has held a number of positions with countless swimming organizations including, director of the PDSC (1989), FINA Director with Swimming Canada (1989-2000), and Director of the Canadian Amateur Swimming Association (1977-2001). In recognition of his contribution to swimming, he was inducted into the Canadian Aquatic Hall of Fame last year.
Sandra has been officiating the sport of synchronized swimming for some 34 years. She has been judging at the national level since 1969 and has had a presence at international competitions since 1978 when she judged at the Swiss Open. Since 1990, Sandra has been an international judge evaluator. She has assessed judges at World Cup competitions and at Olympic Games. In addition, she has organized and/or presented at officiating clinics around the world since 1992. Sandra was a member of the FINA Synchronized Swimming Technical Committee from 1988-2000 and was the International Strategy Leader for Synchro Canada between 1995 and 2001. Sandra has contributed to both the 1995 and 1998 editions of the Judges Manual and she initiated and produced the Figure/Technical Routine video in 1995. Since 1974, Sandra has been recognized almost annually by Synchro Saskatchewan, Synchro Canada, and/or FINA for her service and dedication to the sport. To this day, Sandra continues to officiate at all levels of competition, from the local Star competition to the Olympic Games.

OTTAWA - Flip Filippelli de Vancouver (C.-B.) et Sandra Roberts de Swift Current (Saskatchewan) sont les récipiendaires des Prix Fox 40 des officiels de sport de 2001 pour leur contribution exceptionnelle à leur sport respectif. Fox 40, en collaboration avec l'Association canadienne des entraîneurs (ACE), rendra hommage à un officiel et à une officielle pour leur contribution remarquable au développement de leur sport. Des athlètes, des parents, des entraîneurs, des entraîneures et des gestionnaires de tous les coins du pays qui désirent souligner la contribution des officiels et des officielles de leur communauté ou de leur organisme ont proposé le nombre record de 74 candidatures cette année. Flip et Sandra recevront leur prix lors du Gala des prix d'excellence aux entraîneurs qui aura lieu le 20 octobre 2001. Le Gala est le clou de la conférence Leadership sportif 2001 d'une durée de trois jours (du 19 au 21 octobre) qui se tient au Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre à Mississauga, en Ontario.
Pendant plus de 30 ans, Flip a arbitré lors de compétitions de natation de niveaux régional, provincial, national et international. Son implication a débuté en 1963 alors qu'il était élu président du Lakeside Swim Club. Bien qu'il ait les compétences pour arbitrer au niveau international, il continue d'arbitrer lors de compétitions locales. C'est en 1978, lors des Jeux du Commonwealth tenus à Edmonton, qu'il a fait ses débuts comme arbitre au niveau international. Elle est juge au niveau national depuis 1969 et assiste à des compétitions internationales depuis 1978, année où elle a été juge lors du Championnat ouvert de Suisse. Depuis 1990, Sandra est évaluatrice de juges sur la scène internationale. Elle a évalué des juges lors d'événements de la Coupe du monde et de Jeux olympiques. De plus, elle a organisé ou présenté des cours pratiques pour les officiels partout dans le monde depuis 1992. Sandra a été membre du Comité technique en nage synchronisée de la FINA de 1988 à 2000, et leader stratégique internationale pour Synchro Canada de 1995 à 2001. Sandra a apporté sa contribution aux éditions de 1995 et de 1998 du Manuel des juges, et élaboré et produit la vidéocassette " Figure/Technical Routine " en 1995. Depuis 1974, Sandra a reçu presque chaque année des distinctions de Synchro Saskatchewan, Synchro Canada ou la FINA pour ses services et son dévouement au sport. Ottawa (ON)- The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) is pleased to announce that Brian MacPherson is the new Director General as of October 1st. Brian assumes the Director General responsibilities from Bob O'Doherty who was functioning as the Interim Director for the past four months. "I am excited and enthusiastic about the opportunity and look forward to serving the CPC team in accomplishing their strategic plan goals" says Brian.
Brian has been involved in amateur sport for over 18 years as both a professional administrator and volunteer. Brian will be an outstanding addition to the Paralympic movement based on his knowledge, experience, and accomplishments in governance, resources and program development, and major games. Brian comes to the CPC with a tremendous breadth of experience within the national sport system. Having held senior managerial positions within Water Ski Canada, the Federation of Canadian Archers and the 1988 Calgary Olympics, Brian developed his skills in games, event and facilities management and the operations of provincial, national, and international teams. As a volunteer within the Paralympic and Special Olympic movements, Brian has developed an intricate understanding of disability sport and the varied partners needed to develop a world class Paralympic team.

Ottawa, 5 octobre 2001. Le Comité paralympique du Canada (CPC) est heureux d'annoncer la nomination de Brian MacPherson au poste de directeur général. Brian assure depuis le 1er octobre les responsabilités de Bob O'Doherty, qui agissait à titre de directeur général par intérim depuis les quatre derniers mois. ´Je suis excité et enthousiaste de cette chance et je compte de bien servir le CPC pour accomplir leur plan stratégiqueª de mentionner Brian.
Comme administrateur et bénévole, Brian a été impliqué dans le milieu de l'élite du sport amateur depuis plus de 18 ans. Il sera un atout remarquable pour le mouvement paralympique grâce à ses connaissances, son expérience et ses réalisations dans la gestion et la création de programmes de développement et d'événements sportifs majeurs. Il mettra également à profit son expérience du système sportif canadien, puisqu'il a été à la tête de l'Association canadienne de ski nautique, en plus d'avoir été un dirigeant des associations canadiennes de tir à l'arc, patinage de vitesse et de curling. Il a développé une expertise comme coordonnateur d'événements au niveau d'équipes provinciale, nationale et internationale. Comme bénévole avec le mouvement paralympique et les Olympiques spéciaux, il a donc une connaissance approfondie du sport pour les personnes handicapées et de ses partenaires, afin de poursuivre sur le thème de l'excellence et la reconnaissance de l'équipe paralympique canadienne.
