FCA is proud to have two fully-qualified Parlympic Archers representing Canada on the line in Sydney this fall. Both Alec Denys (who gave all the guys a run for their money at the Ontario Spring Classic) and Norbert Murphy qualified for Sydney while shooting in just terrible weather in Christchurch last year. They will be attending the Championship of the Americas this summer to prepare for this October.

Alec a bien tire contra les archers "debouts" au tournoi d'Ontario Spring Classic ce mois. Les deux ont ete qualifie a cause de leurs performances dans la neige a Christchurch l'annee passe. Cet ete ils vont faire concourir aux championnats des Ameriques. Ils s'y vont preparer pour Sydney ensemble.

I am writing to anyone who is travelling to the US Nationals in Canton in early August. Lynne, my wife and I will be going and we are looking for someone to share transportation with. We will be arriving in Toronto on the morning of July 29 and are looking for a way to get to Canton and to share transportation while at the tournament. We could pay some gas etc. to someone taking their own vehicle or share the rental of a large car or van. We could go separately or together as long as
we get there! If you have any suggestions, we would be very grateful.

Sad news to report from the Yukon...Never thought it would come to this up north!!! Last Wednesday at a regular scheduled 3-D shoot we found the lock cut off the gate of our outdoor course and the door of our storage shed smashed. Final tally 8 recurves and long bows stolen along with 6 dozen arrows, arm guards, finger tabs and gloves.

This is equipment we have acquired through various fund raising activities. The equipment has been used for potential members wanting to come out and try the sport of archery. We have have also used the equipment while instructing at the Yukon Fish & Game Summer Camp and at a local Women's Outdoor Group.

Would any larger clubs have any surplus equipment to help re-establish our supply? Any information would be appreciated.

The NAC will offer special rates to those wishing to train at the National Archery Center in Montreal during the week between two Canadian Championships in August 2000. Rates are :
$15 discount for one session (3 hours) = $45 instead of $60
$30 discount for two sessions (3 hours each) = $85 instead of $115
$40 discount for two sessions (3 hours each) = $125 instead of $165
$50 discount for two sessions (3 hours each) = $145 instead of $195
$60 discount (one session value) for five sessions (3 hours each), this is one the week rate = $165 instead of $225

Le CNTA offrira des tarifs préférentiels à ceux qui souhaitent s'entraîner au Centre National de Tir à l'Arc à Montréal lors de la semaine comprise entre les deux championnats canadiens du mois d'août 2000. Les tarifs sont :
15$ de rabais pour une séance (3 heures) = 45$ au lieu de 60$

This is to inform you that the archery legend, Ms.Kim Soo-Nyung of Korea, recognised by many as the best archer of all times, came back out of retirement and will be competing in Sydney.

This is excellent news except probably for her opponents and we look forward to seeing her compete in Sydney where she could write once more archery history.

(Editor: It is amazing to note that Korea's two prominent archers, Eun-Kyung Lee and Sung-Chil Hong did not make the team! The depth of the Korean's archery programme is absolutely amazing.)

Le niveau des archers en Coree est tellement eleve que les Champions du Monde en titre, Lee, Eun Kyung - qui est egalement en tete de la Liste de Classement Mondiale et Hong, Sung-Chil, qui est 3eme a la LCM ne font past partie de la selection de l'equipe Coreenne de Tir a l'Arc. Dessus-ci on se trouve la liste des membres d'equipe de Sydney.
