Congratulations to Rob Rusnov who finished 37th in the Olympic Ranking Rounds. Rob finished ahead of some pretty impressive names including Martinus Grov of Norway. However, according to an interview in the Ottawa Citizen newspaper on September 18, Rob is retiring from international competition after his 161-155 loss to Sweden's Niklas Eriksson in th 1/32 elimination rounds. It seems as though the shoot-off came down to one arrow, aimed well against the wind, but landing in the 7-ring. Eriksson kept eating away at Rob's initial lead. Just not enough 10's. So, Rob, on behalf of the FCA, thank you and your family for all your time, effort and money. Best wishes in your educational endeavours and national-level archery pursuits.

Selon le journal "Ottawa Citizen" (le 18 septembre), Rob a decide de prendre sa retraite des competitions de niveau international apres le premier ronde eliminatoire contre Niklas Eriksson (SWE). Physical, psychological, and technical factors, including accuracy, are fundamentals of archery shooting. Accuracy, at the top of the list, helps obtain final positions in ranking archers. Three levels of archery tests are introduced to help and support teachers, coaches, and archers in evaluating technical and accuracy levels. Special target faces were designed and placed at three different distances to enable archers to execute the tests. Numbers of arrows, methods of evaluation, and registration forms were designed to ease supervision. The study included some conclusions and proposals for presenting these tests to be practised, evaluated, and discussed with experts in more detailed studies.

Le tir a l'arc requiert autant des qualites physiques et psychologiques que techniques, incluant de la precision qui contribue grandement au classement final des archers. La presente etude fait etat de trois niveaux de tests relies au tir a l'arc, qui peuvent agir de support a l'evaluation de la precision technique, au profit des enseignants, entraineurs et archers. Des cibles specifiques ont ete dessinees et placees a trois distances differentes afin de permettre aux archers d'executer le test. Le nombre de fleches, la methode d'evaluation et les formulaires d'enregistrement ont tous ete dessines dans le but de simplifier la supervision du test. Les tableaux d'evaluation ont ete compiles a partir de resultats de tests menes aupres d'archers de l'Arabie Saudite. L'article propose, de plus, certaines conclusions et recommandations a l'intention des experts favorisant l'utilisation,
l'evaluation et la discussion de ces tests pouvant aider a la mise sur pied d'etudes ulterieures.
