The second phase of the Sport Canada "Sport Funding and Accountability Framework" (SFAF) has started. At a meeting on Thursday with Sport Canada and Secretary of State for Amateur Sport Denis Coderre, I volunteered to work on 3 consultative sub-committees regarding international performances and weighting, team sports/small medal totals vs open-ended (eg. track & field), and something else but I can't remember right now. Hopefully, FCA will not be at such a disadvantage when compared to other sports this time around. The final questionnaire will be out by the end of July. The process will be very similar to the one Bruce Savage and I just went through to apply to Canada Games Council.

La deuxieme partie du Cadre de Financement et de Responsabilite en Matiere de Sport (CFRS) a commence le jeudi passe. Maintenant je suis benevole de 3 sou-comites consultatifs concernant les mesures des hautes performances; les numeros de medailles possibles quand on tire un championnat du monde et des Jeux Olympiques; et un autre ce que j'ai oublie. Peut-etre le processus sera plus egale. La questionnaire finale va soumettre aux sports avant le fin de juillet. Ce processus sera presque le meme de l'application au conseil Jeux Canada.

a) Important Medical Information/Information Medicale Importante
There has been an important amendment for the Anti-Doping Code which also applies to FITA. Article 2 now reads: All athletes are subject to doping controls (urine analyses, blook tests and other authorized techniques for detecting prohibited substances or methods).
Il y a eu une modification importante dans le Code Anti-Doping (c'est le mot de la FITA) qui s'applique aussi a la FITA. L'article 2 mentionne maintenant: Tous les athletes doivent se soumettre aux controles de doping (urine analyses, prises de sang et autres techniques autorisees pour detecter les substances ou methodes interdites).

5. Olympic Trials/Les Epreuves des Jeux Olympiques

Rob and Dave are the only two archers fully COA qualified for the Olympic Team. Congratulations! COA has all their scorecards and has confirmed that they are qualified.
They are also the only two who are eligible to attend the trials. Trials are June 30, July 1 and 2nd. Archers require 3 COA scores to go to the trials. The current list of COA qualifiers is on the FCA
web sight and is up-to-date.

Seulement Rob Rusnov et David Dalziel ont tire les resultats de qualifications de l'AOC. Felicitations! L'AOC a tous leurs cartes de pointage et l'assocation a confirme qu'ils soient qualifies.
Ce sont les seuls deux archers invites au concours du 30 juin au 2 juillet a Toronto. Il faut tirer 3 scores de qualification. On se troube tous les roundes de qualification sur notre site du web.

6. Athletes' website/Le site du web pour les athletes

ChampionsCanada.com, a new Internet site for Canada's elite amateur athletes and the people who support them, has commenced operations.
The site features a page for each of Canada's carded athletes and a system that allows people to designate a portion of their on-line shopping to the athletes they want to support - at no extra cost to the on-line shopper.
While the site has basic information on all of Canada's carded athletes, it's intended that each athlete's page is filled out and maintained by the athlete. All that's required is a computer connected to the Internet. No computer skills are necessary, and completion should take no more than ten minutes.
The company has an incentive to program encourage athlete participation. The first 300 athletes who log in, complete their information and upload a picture will earn $25. Interested athletes should check the 'athlete only' section of the site and request their username and password.
Anyone can register and choose to support an athlete(s). The shopping mall features dozens of leading on-line merchants and contributions range up to 15% of each purchase. It's a neat system that doesn't cost on-line shoppers anything extra.
