I'm back home after the Sydney Test Shoot and have just read my FCA mail - you do a great job by the way!

Regarding the comment below, comparing Geena's score to my own, I have a few things to get off my chest... I feel the need to set the record straight.  News from Sydney/La Fleche d'or de Sydney: Tournois de Test Olympique
Apparently, if was windy during the qualification rounds.  Two rounds of 36 arrows at 70m were used to rank the archers. /  Selon le report de la FITA, il a fait du vent pendant l'preuve de Classement.  On a utilise two rondes de 70m, ensuite:
40th/55 Malene Johansen 286 292 (higher than Geena Davis)

I feel that it was unnecessary to point out that Geena Davis shot a lower score than I did.  Everyone knew beforehand that Geena was invited to raise awareness for the sport of archery.  I would be very embarrassed if Geena were ever to see the comment next to my name and think that I felt the need to demean her shooting to make me feel better about my own.  At least both of us had the courage to stay for the entire shoot and not give up and go home when it became apparent that we weren't going to win it...Geena had the good nature to accept the invite, knowing that her scores would not be the highest on the field and that she would have no privacy regarding that (or anything else it seemed).
 I know that with the scores I was shooting I was very grateful that I didn't have the press looking over my shoulder constantly. I for one appreciate the fact that a celebrity is going to the trouble of bothering to promote our sport and I think she deserves the same time and learning curve as any other archer without being mocked and judged along the way.
How many archers could win an Oscar after only having acted for three years? I think it was unfortunate as well that one of the top ranked female archers in the world, when asked by the press how she felt about her match against Geena, felt it appropriate to say "it would have been really embarrassing to lose to her, after all she is an actress and I'm an archer".  It certainly doesn't make it any more lucrative for Geena to perservere as an archer in the spotlight.

Well, I was going to coach my daughter at the last outdoor tournament of the year here in Ontario, but it looks like wind and cold will prevail. That's the end of the outdoor season for me for another year!  Yes, yes, I know in BC you never stop (!)  Speaking of BC, congrats to the latest transplant:  Hugh MacDonald lives in BC now and shot 1294 last weekend!
Cool.  Greg Durward shot a 1341.  Someone has good weather.  See ya.

Malheureusement, la saison de tir a l'arc exterieure est fini cette fin de semaine.  J'ai espere que j'entrainerai ma fille en Toronto, mais il y aura trop du vent et il fera froid.  Donc, je suis fini cette annee.  Oui, oui, les archers de Columbie-Britainique s'amuseront bien tous le temps.  Et, Hugh MacDonald a tire bien, maintenant en C-B.  Il a tire 1294!
