FCA statement from the recent Executive Committee Meeting

The FCA Executive wishes to make clear the following:

"FCA is a bows and arrows association, providing services to archers while making prudent business decisions."

"La FCA est un organisme d'arcs et de flèches, qui fournit des services aux archers tout en prenant des décisions d'affaires réfléchies."

Words of wisdom from NFAA champion Jeff Button

"......archery is just the act of shooting arrows out a bow. Nothing in this definition suggests this goal needs to be achieved with a compound or recurve, sights or barebow, fingers or release, at "spots" or animals, at marked or unmarked distances, indoors or outdoors, etc., etc. It's not necessary to knock one form of archery just because it's not the style you wish to participate in. To me archery is just archery." (KM: aaaAMEN!)

1. They're off to Cuba/Bon Voyage!

Team Leader Gary Gillies is accompanying our two athletes to Cuba for the World Indoor Championship. Both Jude Hooey and Bruce Malmberg are compound unlimited shooters so the competition will be very high. It is really important to note that all three of these individuals are 100% self-funded! I know Jude's club was trying some fund-raising activities and I hope they worked out.

Gerant d'Equipe international, Gary Gillies, va accompagner notres deux athletes d'arc a poulie au championnat mondiale en salle cette fin semaine. Les trois ont paye tous leurs depenses eux-memes! Bon chance a tous.

6. FITA

>From our rep., Al Wills: Rather than break the bank mailing out the FITA motions, I have put them on the web site! at f(I had to break them into 2 documents because of the size!) "Motions 1" is mostly Constitutional "Motions 2" is mainly shooting rules. Comments are welcome, but everyone should understand that any nation may submit motions to FITA congress. The ones that have the most likely chance of passing are those supported by FITA committees. There are a number of suggested changes to compound scoring, which will be opposed by Canada.

Marthe Cusson

Hi there,

Please read and forward this message on to any athletes that live in the Montreal region that you think may be interested. Thank you, Alison

We managed to round up some athletes for the March 4th Ski Event at Blue Mountain in Collingwood, Ont. Thanks to all those who responded!! The last Toshiba "Breath of Life" Ski Challenge event for this year is being held Thursday March 18th at Mont Gabriel near Montreal. Hosted by Ken Read, funds raised are donated to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It is an all day event, athletes must ski and are partnered up with a corporate team. Please call me at the Athletes CAN office if you are interested and available on March the 18th for the Montreal event. Our new office # is 905-272-3642, or athletes can call toll free 1-888-832-4222. Please call ASAP as they are anxious to secure athletes. This is a great event and supports a great cause. Athletes CAN has always been able to help find athletes in the past who are willing to particiapate. Please call me and I will put you in touch with the person who is organizing the event. If you give me a fax number when you call that would be great as registration forms need to be sent to you.

Thanks,

Alison Christie
