Greetings:

After my return to the FCA in 1997, one of the challenges I faced was teaching myself corporate law and taxation.  This week, I hope, I finished a task in this area:  submission of FCA's revised by-laws.  The process has been quite long, since by law, there must be general acceptance by the membership.  That done, it is now up to Industry Canada to accept, or again reject, our amendment #1/99.  I would like to thank all those who helped in this process.  Let us hope that our changes will be accepted this time.

Quand je suis devenue la gerante generale de la FCA, il faut que je apprennais le droit des societes, et les taxes aussi.  Cette semaine, j'espere, j'ai complete une grande tache:  j'ai submi notre modification des arretes des societes.  La "piste" a dure parce qu'on a besoin de gagner le support des membres generals.  Donc, maintenant, nous allons attendre la decision d'Industrie Canada. Je voudrais remercier tous les membres qui m'ont aide. Esperons-nous que notres revisions seront admissibles.

1. News from Sydney:
Tournois de Test Olympique Apparently, if was windy during the qualification rounds.  Two rounds of 36 arrows at 70m were used to rank the archers:
Tomorrow, Malene has been included on an international "mixed" team.  We wish her, and the guys, all the best.

Selon le report de la FITA, il a fait du vent pendant l'preuve de Classement.  On a utilise two rondes de 70m, ensuite:
On a mis les archers singulier(e) dans l'equipes internationales.  Demain, Malene va participe avec USA et CHI.  Bonne Chance!

In the first elimination rounds, the results were/pour les 1/32:
Shawn lost to a German 155-157
Dave lost to a Russian 162-165
Malene lost to an Italian 129-152 

2. Thirty years ago/Il y a trente ans
In 1969, a woman from British Columbia became the first, and only Canadian to win a gold FITA World Target Championship medal.  Her name is Dorothy Lidstone.  If you wish to send her messages of congratulations, to show that she has not been forgotten, you can write to her at her successful archery business:

d'or a Valley Forge, USA.  C'etait la premiere (et seule) fois qu'une
Canadienne a recu cette medaille au niveau du championnat mondiale de cible

Note:
The new 2 metre line in front of the shooting line that signfies an "unsot" arrow is NOT imaginary, but can be marked on the field.

Il y a une nouvelle ligne demarquee 2 metre en avance de la ligne de tir. Cette ligne n'est pas imaginaire. On peut la marquer bien sur la terrain.

In Closing/Enfin

I would like to thank the members of the World Target team to France for the card and pin.  It was very thoughtful.  We were darned close to not getting them in time for your departure!  Hopefully, at this year's AMO show, we can do even more for Junior Worlds and Olympic teams.
