Tournaments/les Tournois
Mike Miller (BC), reported a strong turn-out for the first local tournament of the indoor season. Please note that the US nationals have not yet been designated a WRE tournament. Tentative dates for the outdoor FCA champion-ships have been chosen. I will confirm them as soon as the FCA Executive approves them.

Il y a eu beaucoup de participants au tournoi interieur de Parksville, C-B. Il etait le premier tournoi interieur de cette saison. Note bien que les championnats americains ne sont pas inscrire comme WRE en 2000. Les dates de nos championnats exterieurs ont ete deja choisi. J'attend le decision de notre conseil executif et je les confirmera le plus tot possible.

Archery reinforces the fight against doping and aims to protect the environment.
The FITA Competitors Committee requested that more doping tests be carried out. FITA Council has adopted a decision to have smoke-free championships for athletes, officials and spectators. The protection of the environment has been added to the list of FITA goals.

Le Tir a l'Arc renforce la lutte contre le dopage et vise a proteger l'enviironnement.
Le Comite des Competiteurs de la FITA a demande a ce que plus de tests antidopage aient lieu. Le Consil de la FITA adopte la decision d'avoir des championnats non-fumeurs pour les athletes, officiels et spectateurs. La protection de l'environnement a ete ajoute aux buts de la FITA.

4. Archery Equipment trends in the USA
I received some interesting information from the Morton Research Company
which I thought I would share with you.
a) Archery equipment sales lag far behind the growth for all sporting goods. It's position has been cut by 57% from 1980 to 1998.
b) Women now account for 27% of Target Archers, up from 23% in 1996.
c) At the producer level archery equipment sales have been growing at less than 1% per year from 1992 to 1998.

4. Les tendances actuelles d'equipement de tir a l'arc aux Etats-Unis
J'ai recu les nouvelles interessantes d'un companie s'appelle "Morton
Research Company". Ce sont quelques pointes.
a) Les ventes d'equipement n'ont pas agrandi comme les autres marchandises sportives. La position de tir a l'arc a ete coute par 57% entre 1980 et 1998.
b) Les dames comprisent 27% de participants de cible fixe. Le percentage
a agrandi par 3% entre 1996 et 1999.
c) Les ventes des usines d'equipement de tir a l'arc agrandissent moins que 1% par annee entre 1992 et 1998.

still waiting for more. The deadline date is December 20, 1999.
