Our wheelchair archers are off to London to shoot their worlds. Good luck/Bon Chance! And back at home, the 3D nationals start today and the Target nationals are only 11 days away.

4. Congratulations go to two of our athletes who have just been named to the 1998-99 Petro Canada Olympic Torch Scholarship Fund. They are Julie Welburn and Robert Rusnov. The list was just received in the office yesterday. Hopefully those two people will be hearing directly from COA in the near future. Again, congratulations. Only 131 athletes received these scholarships.

5. WORLD RANKING Congratulations also goes to Caroline Labrecque who is officially ranked 31st in the World by FITA in the recurve women division! She is the only Canadian to be ranked in the top 50 recurve listing published July 1998. A copy of the listing has been forwarded to COA. Felicitations!!!

6. Pan Am Games

First, don't forget that ticket orders should be in tomorrow!!! HA! I've heard from Sue Hall in Winnipeg that the general public has been offered tickets already, so if you want to make sure you get some for opening and closing ceremonies, or archery and other events, you'd better get in touch with this office before I leave for nationals.

Secondly, anyone interested in volunteering at the Pan Am Games can contact this office for an application. Get to see the Games for free and meet people from all over the Americas!

7. Excellence 2000 Thanks to Jacquie Saito for getting the Excellence 2000 welcoming packages off and running. We had a great time making up the letters!! So, the first batch of English ones are out, and our faithful translator Alain Gravel is going to help us out with the rest. For those of you who were renewing in Excellence, a special letter will be included in the next InfoExcellence in mid-August.

8. And, finally a note from the stressed-out contract worker (me): If I've made typos, sorry. Right now getting the membership report ready for nationals, AGM reports published, working with Revenue Canada over some problems, and getting the year-end financial report ready with the auditors is taking up gobs and gobs of time. I get a little punchy, so just excuse any mistakes this time. (You don't even have to tell me about them, OK)

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK.

PS THE OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED FROM FRDIAY AUGUST 7 AT 5:30 PM UNTIL MONDAY AUGUST 24 AT 8:45 AM EDT.
