Bonjour/Greetings:
The most exciting things happening this week are Olympic/Pan Am Games
preparations, and Al Wills came to visit. There rest is just your regular
hoe-hum kind of stuff.
The COA held information meetings on Wednesday to inform all sports
involved in either Games how things were going. I guess the fastest way
to
summarize is: in the next two-three months, those of you on this e-mail
who compete internationally are going to be asked to provide information
for bios, FCA Exec. and Board members are going to be asked to "crystal
ball" expectations of who is travelling where, when and with whom;
Joan
McDonald and Pascal Colmaire are going to be asked to figure out plans,
numbers, quotas; and HPC is going to have decisions to make. It is
all
exciting stuff but a little pressed for time. So, you'll see more later
on
these topics, I'm sure.
On Monday I will be going to a similar meeting but this time for
Paralympics 2000. So I'll get all my reports ready next week and send
them
out in a board mailer.
2. Al Wills in town
We don't get too many visitors at the office, so when one comes to town
what do we do? We put him to work ofcourse! Al was interested in
helping
out so I had a project I knew he could help me with.
Since I have come back to archery (Can you believe it is over a year
now!!!????) we have had four new board members (see below). I had Al
proofread and update the Board of Directors handbook. So copies will be
coming out this week to everyone, new and old.
3. Welcome in
Thanks very much to Stan Siatkowski for his views and insights over the
past year. As he promised, at the OAA AGM, he resigned as FCA rep.
FCA
welcomes Bruce Savage to a new portfolio. As many of you know, Bruce is
involved with junior archers and the HPC already. So, have another hat,
Bruce! Enjoy the new BoD handbook.
Also, we have to say good-bye to Sean McKenty as OAA president. He has
held the post for 7 years and now becomes the Past Pres. FCA welcomes Mr.
Barry Liebner, a member of the Archers of Caledon, as the new OAA
President.
4. Off to
I really apologize for the English-only information this week. I have to
catch a plane to beautiful downtown
with Martha Boyle. It is going to be a great weekend. And, if the
ground
crew strike in
for 9AM Monday morning. Isn't that Martha organized? I don't even
have to
miss work!
So next week I promise to inflict my French on everyone again.
See ya.
Kathy :)
