Re: December 11, 1998/le 11 decembre

Greetings/Bonjour:

Lots has been happening this week, and I will have further details next Friday. For now we are looking at tentative date changes for the national outdoor championships. The High Performance Committee met on the weekend and I sure there will be lots of information coming from Pascal and Alain very soon.

I'm having a few computer problems in the new office--so big surprise. And I will not be printing an updated schedule this week. It's a software thing. So, this week is a little short on information.

1. Please keep in mind that 1999 memberships are due January 1st.

2. Mailmatches start the first week in January and run for 3 months for the incredibly low price of $5.00 per person. Contact Andrew Webber. More details will be mailed out in the next week to clubs.

3. National Indoor Championship co-ordinator Greg Durward has been working hard to set up the whole shooting structure from Salts Spring Island and if your province has not yet got in touch with him for sites, do it soon and save him the headaches.

4. From Pascal:

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Amnesty International is collecting signatures for a pledge to support this very important United Nations declaration. Amnesty already has 3 million signatures (real and virtual) worldwide, and wants 8 million (which would be 1 % of the world's population). The UN Secretary General has already agreed to be present either in person or live by satellite, if he has to be in New York, to receive commitment to an international agenda of human rights.

The most simple way to add your name to the pledge is to send an email to: udhr50th@amnesty.org.au put YOUR NAME in the SUBJECT and put the following text in the message:

"I support the rights and freedoms in the Universal Declaration of Human

Rights for all people, everywhere".

Forward this message to as many people as you can.

5. From Linda Marten in WARM sunny Colorado Springs with some international news:

Just returned from the annual trip to the Costa Rica Cup. Had a nice time and I even shot almost like I knew how. They had a good international representation this year. Besides the USA & Costa they had competitors from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Venezula and Cuba. Sergio & Victor from Cuba were the officials - they'll make you toe the line.

Thanks, Linda. And enjoy Christmas in Central America--no, no we're not

jealous!

In closing, I'd like to thank everybody for the smiles you send. Now that I am on the new Eudora software I can actually download the visuals. You people are wonderful!!

Have a good weekend.
